UNH's Cabled Ocean Observation System sits on the sea floor, 81 meters deep, ten miles off the coast.
It was designed by the Center for Acoustics Research and Education (CARE) in partnership with JASCO and SubCom to collect real-time acoustic, oceanographic, and biogeochemical data. Data is transmitted through an undersea cable back to the Shoals Marine Lab on Appledore Island, and then via microwave radio to the mainland. This website displays the most recent data received. There is also an Advanced Viewer for exploring historical data.

This project funded by Office of Naval Research award N00014-22-1-2820.
